Use Beyonce Vocals on Your Track Without Copyright Claims

How this artist releases known vocals on their tracks without owning the rights

Hey! This is Ernesto, today I'll show you how to release famous vocals as your own, the production tip of the week from a very special guest, and our choice for best studio monitors under $500.

How to Use Beyonce Vocals on Your Track Without Copyright Claims

There’s an epidemic of famous vocals in the Beatport top 10, have you ever wondered how these artists are pulling this off without shelling out massive royalties? Well, get ready, because I’m about to breakdown this black-hat tactic for you.

It's all about creative collaboration and some nifty licensing tricks. These artists work with singers who can cover the original song, creating a new version that will get you that immediate dancefloor recognition without being considered a remix- why? because it doesn’t use any parts of the original song, that's why it's considered a "cover".

Now, you might think this is a legal minefield, but fear not! Here's how they do it:

  1. Team up with a singer who can deliver an amazing cover of the track in question.

  2. Secure a mechanical license for the cover version. This allows them to distribute and sell the track legally. Services like Loudr and Easy Song Licensing make this step a breeze.

  3. And if they're feeling extra fancy and want to make a video with their Beyoncé-inspired banger, a synchronization (sync) license comes into play. This covers the combo of music and visuals, and can be acquired by contacting the publisher.

So there you have it! By following these steps, electronic music artists can release remixes of famous tracks while staying on the right side of the law. It's all about respecting the original artist while showcasing their unique take on a hit song blah blah blah.

Track of the Week:

Black V Neck's Production Tip of the Week

"Creating an artificial "space" or "room" for a mix element to exist in is a good way to create or add dimensionality to your production.

Those with access to a convolution reverb can blend in the wet signal of a short or small space to their source material which will create an enhanced perception of stereo image while maintaining mono compatibility (provided the source was already mono compatible).

For added effect, be sure to use the built in eq to shape the sound of the reverb to fit your mix appropriately.

If your particular plugin doesn't offer an eq stage, you can use parallel routing and and an eq of your choice pre or post reverb to achieve the same results. When using this approach, be sure to remove the dry signal entirely from the reverb's processing path, and use volume of the chain to blend in the wet signal to the source instead."
